Photoshop Makeover Artist Statement
For my Photoshop Makeover project, I used my Senior Portrait picture from Prestige Portraits/Lifetouch that I took in the basement (Kim’s room). There were many poses to choose from and I chose the post I like the best because I thought that picture would be a great image of me that I can use for a makeover.
Before starting this project I had some ideas of what to transform myself into and some ideas were:

I had so many ideas, but it was frustrating with the tutorials that Ted has given us. I found the tutorials hard and not easy to follow at all and then I started to look for tutorials by searching it on Google and came across many websites, which gave me another idea, making myself look like a witch. I used a variety of sites, but the main site I used was http://www.createblog.com because the Photoshop tutorials on the site were much easier to follow. Though it may not have a lot, I also received helped from Ted and Christine. Ted reminded me about the Liquefying Filer and Christine helped me with my skin tone.
The first change to my appearance was removing acne from my skin and making it look better and smoother. I used the Healing Brush Tool to remove my acne by picking a spot near my acne to grab its color and coloring it over my acne to make it disappear like it did. I then soften the picture with the Gaussian Blur Filter to make it look smother and better. Who wants to have a face full of acne? I sure don’t! That’s why I removed my acne to make myself look better.
The second change to my appearance was making my eyes look bad, well, under my eyes. I wanted to have the effect as if I haven’t slept in a very long time and I think it really looks like that. I used the Burn Tool over and over again to get the effect that I wanted, so I would look like I haven’t slept for days. This change in appearance was not what I planned, but I was messing around on Photoshop with the different filters and tools and discovered the neat effect that the Burn Tool gave me, so I stayed with the effect and decided to make myself look like a Zombie.
The third change to my appearance was my skin tone. Christine has this really cool idea of changing my skin tone and I was looking at different colors to change it to make it more realistic like a zombie, so I chose the color white. Christine guided me with the skin tone changing. She told me to use the Elliptical Marque Tool and make a circle over my face and fill it with a color I desire which is white. Then I turned the opacity down and started to erase the excess white on my face that I didn’t want on, like the eyes, nose, and mouse. I also use the Smudge Tool to cover the parts where the circle isn’t filled. I repeated this process for my neck area as well, so it’ll look more real.
The fourth change in my appearance was my eye color. I thought about leaving my color the color it is not, but then it’ll look weird with my Zombie theme. So, I looked on Createblog and found a tutorial of how to change my eye color. I adjusted the tutorial a little meaning that I followed many of the steps, but did not continue with it because I have the results that I wanted. I changed the eye color many times trying to find that right color and I chose some of my favorite color, but it didn’t really fit into my Zombie theme until I experimented on the color red and found that it a really nice color to use for the eyes in my Zombie theme. I used the Brush Tool and made a dot over my eyes and change the layer’s filter and added Gaussian Blur to make it look like a real eye which came out pretty good, just the way I like it.
The fifth and final change in my appearance was my hair color. I tried to make it a good color that matches the Zombie theme, and white was not a good color for the hair, so I used yellow, which matched. I used the masking and brush tool to color the hair and then I inversed the selection of the hair and filled it with the color yellow and added a Soft Light Filter, which made the hair color look pretty light on top of my dark hair the way I wanted it to look like.
Most of the tools and techniques I used was a review because I always use Photoshop at home whenever I design graphics. So, the review was very helpful because some of the tutorials and tools I used made me remember what the tools did and how to apply the tools the way that I think will look good when designing.
I’m really happy with the result that I made for this project because I never thought of really making my picture as a Zombie, which looks very frightening and many people agree. This project took me by surprise in what I have done because it looks real and I really like what I’ve done to the picture to make it look like a Zombie, frightening and real at the same time.
